Press Release: Cribbs Named ST PotW - Wed, Dec 23 2009 at 12:43 pm
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Joshua Cribbs has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for games played on December 17-21, the league announced today.
Cribbs registered two kickoff returns for touchdowns (100 and 103 yards) during the Browns’ 41-34 victory over Kansas City on Sunday, becoming only the second player in NFL history to record two touchdowns of at least 100 yards in a single-game. He is also the ninth player in NFL history with two kickoff return touchdowns in a game.
His first kickoff return for a touchdown set the NFL record for most kickoff returns for touchdowns with seven. Cribbs’ 305 total return yards were the fourth-highest combined return yards total in a single-game in NFL history. He also recorded 269 kickoff return yards, which were also the fourth-highest single-game return total in NFL history and set a Browns franchise record. He has now moved into 14th on the all-time list with 8,084 career return yards (1,102 punt/6,982 kickoff). On offense, Cribbs also rushed three times for eight yards and caught one reception for three yards.
This is the third AFC Special Teams Player of the Week Award for Cribbs in his career and second this season. He is the first Browns player to win an AFC Player of the Week Award in consecutive weeks. He was awarded the honor for games played in Week 14, after registering 200 all-purpose yards during the Browns’ 13-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 10.
