Our Team. Our Name. Our Colors.

Locker Room Quotes, 11-3-09 - Tue, Nov 3 2009 at 2:55 pm

Wide Receiver Joshua Cribbs

(On another change within the organization)- “I feel like the organization is still intact.  We have our captain of the ship, (Eric) Mangini is still running it.  We always went to war with him and we’re going to war with him.”

(On why the team’s hard work during the week does not turn into positive results on Sunday’s)- “I have no answer for that.  You can’t explain some of the things that happen.  Our effort is not being shown in the win column and it’s evident.  It’s really disappointing to the fans and to us as players.  It’s just something that we’ve been struck with, we have to deal with.  It’s not going good right now, but as a professional player I have to keep going.  As team, we have to keep going and move on, try to win the next game.”

(On if the players get used to personnel changes)- “It is adversity.  That’s the pure definition of it, going through change and difficult situations unexpectedly.  How you handle that determines your character.  I feel like we handled it well and we’ll move on and keep showing effort out the on the field because that’s what our fans love.  What they love most is a win, so that’s what we’ll keep trying to strive for.

Tight End Steve Heiden

(On how change in an organization does not affect the players)- “It doesn’t affect me.  I can speak for myself on this, because I’ve been here awhile and I’ve seen some changes.  The only thing that you have to do as a player is go out and try to play to the best of your ability and do the things day-in and day-out to make you a better football player.  That’s really all I’m concerned with.  I can’t control anything that goes on anywhere else besides at this locker.  That’s the truth and that’s all I’m trying to do.”

(On why the team’s effort during the week doesn’t show up on Sunday)- “It comes down to execution, making the blocks, catching the ball.  It’s all the little things that can make an average team good or a good team great.  The good teams do that.  When we play well, we do it too.  We just have to do it on a more consistent basis.”

(On if players are putting too much pressure on themselves)- “I don’t like to overanalyze that, but at some times, maybe.  I think that’s that snowball effect where you continue to put more pressure on yourself and bad things continue to happen.  Listen, we just need to execute and do all the little things and we’ll be fine.”

Offensive Lineman Joe Thomas

(On how personnel moves do not distract players from their jobs)- “It’s part of the NFL, learning to play with distractions.  No matter what team you’re on in the NFL there’s going to be distractions.  There’s going to be things that happen throughout the course of the season and you just have to learn to deal with it and learn to play through it.”

(On why the team’s hard work during the week does not turn into positive results on Sunday’s)- “That’s a good question.  In the NFL wins and losses come down to execution and making plays.  It doesn’t matter how hard you work, if you don’t make plays and you don’t execute the wins aren’t going to happen and things aren’t going to look good.”
